Learning to be Present

Are you present in your body?

Life is a series of events that often distract us from the one true thing that matters – ourselves. When’s the last time that you just sat still and listened to your body: its rhythms, its energies?

Author Eckhart Tolle’s new book was deeply praised by the powerful Oprah Winfrey. Oprah felt that its message was so powerful, that she wanted to take it one step further than advertising the book. She partnered with the author and created a free on-line course with exercises and meditation tools that can be a-new-earthdownloaded. We wholeheartedly encourage you to take advantage of these resources for your personal benefit. If they helped Oprah cultivate awareness, then it’s highly possible that the same could be done for you on your journey to success!

We’ll provide a preview of tips from the first lesson’s exercises :

-    Everytime you walk up a set of stairs, pay attention to your every step. Sense your breathing. Feel present.
-    When washing your hands, take time to be present in the activity. Feel the water flowing through your hands. Notice the movement of your hands. Notice the scent of the soap.

These are a few tips from one set of exercises. These can be extended to all activities throughout your daily life. For starters, begin on a chosen pair of daily activities, i.e. brushing your teeth, drinking your coffee, sitting in your office chair, laying in your bed, etc. Be fully present. Practice awakening your senses.
